Logging into OneDrive is the easiest way to ensure your files and folders will transfer to your new PC. We have made it easy for you to keep your needed class files intact, as we transfer to new laptops for you in the coming years with OneDrive.
If you are not able to see the the OneDrive Icon in file explorer, that more than likely means that you are not signed into the service, and will need to do so (see below). If you have the icon in your file explorer, you can move items to this location, much like you would any other file on your PC. You can either drag and drop folders and files into this location, or copy and paste here.
Anything that is stored for you in this location will transfer to your new laptop, once you are signed back into the OneDrive service. Anything that is not stored here will not transfer to your new laptop.
If you are not signed into OneDrive, please make sure to follow the instructions below:
- Open your Start Menu (Windows Menu)
- Locate the OneDrive Program (see left hand Image)
- Click on the OneDrive Program. This will prompt you to sign in.
- Please input your THS email address ([email protected]). Press Enter.
- Your next options are to Choose what to sync, and where to sync. Since we have already set up folders for you, simply click on ‘NEXT’ for your choices until you get to the option with setting up a Mobile Folder.
- You can set up a OneDrive Folder on your cellular phone, should you choose. This is a completely optional choice for you. If you would like to do so, please click on the ‘Send Me A Link’ Button. Otherwise, click on the ‘Later’ Button.
- Your PC and your Files will now begin to sync for you. Please allow for some time for this process to complete, as this typically takes 15-20 minutes for the first sync, on average.
Please do not forget to move any additional files that you would like to have synced to your OneDrive! You can set up any Folder structure that you would like, much like your normal files on your PC.
Please feel free to reach out to your IT Support Staff, should you have any additional questions!
